iowa city roadtrip

an unexpected roadtrip even!  i had a good sleep, but was up at like 9 anyway.  i went to hardee's for a sausage biscuit & DEW because i still didn't go to the store to get some caffeination.  came home & watched JAG, which thankfully did a good job of recapping season 3 w/ the first episode of season 4!  *laugh*

finished reading this week's People.  sandra bullock's story of her adoption of Louis was a very interesting read!  also saw the John Deere Pavillion listed as a tourist attraction on a travel advert page.  Woot!  : )

i popped on to FB & bret IM'd me.  he went to iowa city w/ some "friends" last night & these "friends" left w/o him.  who does that?  how many generations have we raised that are completely devoid of manners, common sense, and a sense of what it means to be a friend??  granted, these kids are young, just in their early 20's, but still!  i can't imagine a time when i ever thought it was okay to leave a friend behind, especially out of town!  and especially, in this case, knowing he doesn't have a cell phone.  seriously!!  thank God mandi (my cousin, his aunt) lives in town & He gave bret the clarity to remember where she hangs out & the ability to find that place!  yeesh.

so, good cousin-sister than i am, i drove to ia city to pick him up.  it was a BEAUTIFUL day for a road trip.  the clouds were amaaaazing!  i kept thinking how neat it is that you can be watching a particular cloud, and then the road turns slightly, so slightly that you normally wouldn't notice it, and you realize the shift because the cloud you were admiring is now to your left instead of straight ahead.  : )  and a whole new set of amazing clouds are straight ahead!  loved it!  : )  i'd never been to mandi's before, so i mapquested directions & they worked out quite well, altho i think there was probably a different exit i could have taken to get me there a bit more directly.  heh.  oh well!  i got there safely, and that's the important part!  mandi's apartment is so cute, too!  and big for a one bedroom.  got to see the kitties, lexi & deej (kadija, i think is her full name, isn't that pretty?).  they are siamese (if you please)(they are siamese if  you don't please, also...heh).  chatted a bit w/ mandi & then bret & i were on our way home.

it was a good visiting ride home.  hopefully bret will be able to ... straighten things out.  one of his "friends" still had his keys, so he wasn't sure how he was getting into his house, since his roommate wasn't going to be home.  thankfully, he was able to figure out a way in!  we planned a tentative "date night" w/ him & me & misha for this weekend.  : )  i haven't hung out w/ them together in too long, so i'm excited for it to work out w/ all our schedules!

i picked up subway on my way home (and another DEW from a drive-thru) & got inside JUST IN TIME!  i'd literally just sat down when the thunder, lightning & TORRENTIAL rains began!!  whew!  God is good, tho.  : )  and the mini-storm only lasted about an hour, if that.  i watched the rest of the week's OLTL & chatted w/ aprila.  then i turned on pandora & started blogging away!

now, i suppose i should get to bed soon.  another full week on the horizon!  i hope y'all have a great monday!

  2. Exactly! I just hope he got his keys back from the one friend. He hasn't said anything about being stranded again, so I'm assuming he has!
