for His awesomeness!
carepages update for sergio the past two days has been encouraging and hopeful. God is working in that little boy's life, please continue to join us in prayer for complete healing. praise the Lord he is still CANCER FREE - which does not make the infections and flu that he's battling any less dangerous. his immune system is still pphhhhttt. he is still fighting for his life. but being cancer free is one more mark on the GOOD side of things!
other than a few annoyances, today was marvellous! work went well, got to talk so some super-nice ppl, which is part of my job that i love! lunch was interesting. trish went out, i stayed in, and somehow got roped into a lively discussion on whose responsibility it is if a man gets caught with a prostitute. looooong drawn out things there, that i am too tired to get into right now! i will say this, tho - unless you're in Reno, prostitution is illegal, which means that the woman selling the use of her body is just as culpable as the man buying it. also, LOGIC should be employed whenever a law is broken. you can't, or shouldn't, have an all or nothing attitude toward one crime and not another. did you know that you could be living next door to a convicted murderer and never know it, but if a guy pees by a fence, facing away from the street, and a school bus passes by, he can be charged with a SEX CRIME and put on a list of sex offenders for the rest of his life? a person can TAKE SOMEONE'S LIFE and be out of jail living a normal life in a few short years, w/ no one ever the wiser. and poor dude who merely made a bad judgement call about where to relieve himself has to make sure he doesn't live near a daycare or school, let all his neighbours know that he's on a sex offender's list, and risk ridicule from said neighbours. does that seem right to you? to me, any time you label a stupid mistake, consensual sex, etc., as a sex crime, you completely destroy any credibility. it demeans the victims of ACTUAL abuse, it equates actual abuse w/ stupid petty crap.
sorry, stuff like that makes me see red, i tell ya!
anywhoo...! phil called this afternoon & said the boys would be at mom's. i picked up some DELICIOUS noodles from Noodles & headed over to mom's after work. : ) even though there's some drama going on, it was fabulous to see the boys & snuggle w/ leyton! *grin* we watched Space Buddies, which ... okay, is dumb, but cute-dumb. like that gary coleman movie where he's an angel and comes to earth to help a football player... *laugh* (apparently British spell checker doesn't have the word "movie" in the dictionary. wth??)
i must go to bed! tomorrow i'm taking a couple hours vacation, picking misha up & we're going to see Eclipse! excited!! other than that, and 2 AMAAAAAZING episodes of America's Got Talent that i saw tonight, my mind's mush. have a great one! TTFN!
HI!! So I FINALLY made time to check this out. Glad someone loves their job, I'm still looking for that one ;) I'm sure you already know if you go to TX(or whatever state)dps.com you can find a link to put your zip code and find a list including maps, pics and info on any sex offenders living in your near vicinity. Scary stuff you need to know!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes prostitution is one of the oldest professions around however I'm SURE that's a job those women don't like!!!Yuck. However unless they're being beaten and forced into it, they're just as guilty.
Wow,the whole peeing topic makes me think of my stance on women breastfeeding in public. YES,it's natural, yes the child needs to eat. HOWEVER I am not comfortable seeing your junk out as you could(and should)cover yourself with a blanket. Men urinating is a natural thing GOD created as well but it's not kosher with anyone if they whip it out and do their business in a crowd!! Not to mention all the gross pervs/teen boys who will get off on the woman expressing her "right" Thank you for letting me get that off MY chest :)
Christina! Thanks for the comment! Those websites are dangerous things. A little knowledge and all that jazz. And I'm completely w/ you on the breastfeeding in public. Go to the car, the bathroom, pump before going out, however you wanna work it. It's a natural and beautiful way to feed your child, absolutely. I'm not asking you to "hide" nature. I'm asking that you respect society's rule about public nudity. In that vein, tho - would anyone even think of accusing a nursing mother of being a sex offender for making (what a lot would consider) a poor judgement call? No! Because that is NOT their intention. So why should we as a society stand for this happening to men? I don't get our country's lack of logic sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWhew. Hot topic! LOL
I am very sad that a natural happening such as breast feeding in public can be termed 'poor judgement'.
ReplyDeleteIf this is written from the point of the church, I venture to suggest - judge not.
Or what is the 'American Society rule' based on, that instigates such an inconvenience on woman-kind, who bearing an infant around has enough to do without some of the suggestions you suggest she should take for such an innocent interaction.
Hot topic indeed.
On the other topic of a male urinating in public - I had a strange experience:
I was 24 and hitch hiking in France 1965. I had walked for some time and was in the remote outskirts of Paris so there were many houses but no shops and no other people walking, the odd car passing. I was getting desperate to relieve my bladder and after some time decided if I could not see any chance of somewhere to relieve myself when I reached the next corner I would just have to make use of a garden wall.
On reaching the next corner all there was in sight were more houses, turning to the wall I could not believe my eyes for the garden wall, out in the open, had a flushing male urinal. I just wish I had had the forethought to take a picture of it to back up my story.
Thank you for providing a platform for me to partake in your interesting blog - Take Care.
Breast feeding itself is not poor judgement. Being able to provide nourishment for your child from your own body is the most awesome thing imaginable. However, we don't live in a society where women showing their breasts in public is an acceptable practice. Right or wrong, if a woman is out in public, her breasts must be covered. The same is not true for a man with breasts, however. Our society accepts men with uncovered nipples, but not women (think about the size of bikinis seen on beaches - some are little more than pasties of the nipple area, yet they are accepted legally. If a woman goes topless on a beach in this country, she can be cited for public indecency).
ReplyDeleteThis is just the accepted (and legal) practice here. Why should a breastfeeding mother be allowed to break such a law?
Aside from that, tho, my point is that both having to feed your child and having to urinate are necessary, physical needs which involve body parts that aren't acceptably shown in public in this country. Therefore the choice to do either of these things, in public, can be considered questionable. NEITHER action, however, should ever be used by the authorities to label a person as a "sex offender." The intention of a breastfeeding mother is to feed her child. The intention of a man peeing on a fence is to relieve his bladder. There is no sexual /intent/ in either of these acts.
If you think the sex offender laws don't make sense, never study Torts. They absolutely make me crazy...
ReplyDeleteChallis, I've been reading up on Torts & oh my heck, you are right! Craaaaazy! "If Steve sneezes on Lois and Lois then gets a cold, Lois could potentially sue Steve for lost wages and costs of medicine to treat the cold." (Exaggerated, but not by much - goodness!)
