6.3.5.

nothing big about today.  it was a lovely day of rest.  i finished People, started a Margot Early book, and watched many VHS tapes.  


- Housesitter - goldie hawn, steve martin, rom com, love it!  i don't really like goldie hawn, or so i think.  but then when i see this movie, i really like her!  maybe i just don't like that movie she's in w/ kurt russell that everyone else really likes?  overboard?  idk.  anyway, after this one i wanted more steve martin, so i put in 


- A Simple Twist of Fate - which steve wrote & is based lightly off of Silas Marner, which was one of my favorite stories we read aloud in school.  a sweet, funny, touching movie.  then i needed something fast-paced, so i picked 


- Sing - it's from the same ppl who wrote/produced Footloose, and idk how it hasn't been a classic like that movie.  peter dobson is ... manly.  : )  and interesting random fact about him - he has since been in all three CSI's.  lol  


after Sing, i couldn't decide what to watch, and i really wanted to read a book.  so i started Holding the Baby by Margot Early.  she's one of my favorite authors!  took a little movie break & then put in 


- Ghostbusters - if i can't see it on the big screen, at least i own it!  : )  i continued my purely VHS watching streak after that w/ 


- Excess Baggage - LOVE this movie, love the soundtrack, love alicia silverstone and christopher walken!!  : )  april sent me a message while watching this one & reading, so i logged in to the IM & got to chat w/ her for a bit.  she agreed w/ me that the last movie of my VHS streak should be 


- Ferris Bueller - a classic!!  : )  i still can't believe how much these kids packed into a few hours in chicago!  *laugh*  i noticed how much the chicago skyline/landscape has changed since this movie was shot, too.  


tomorrow it's back to work!  praying for a good night's sleep & a blessed day for me & y'all as well!  : )

the good stuff

there were some crazy shenanigans going on tonight, but today was a GOOD day.  a blessed day.  a day of miraculous things!  : )  


i had a good night's sleep, thank You, Lord!  i got up & watched Stardust & started my letter to these fine folks.  i'm going to put in some postcards & things for them.  it's a really neat project, and if you have time & want to write them a letter to help them to their goal, that would be neat!  it's already october & they're almost at 300, so they have a ways to go (well, that's where they're at on the blog, they may have received more that they're going over, idk).  anyway, hook them up!  


i met mom & leyton at the museum around 1:30.  we played in the firetruck room for quite a while, then went outside for a bit, then enjoyed the TURTLE exhibit!  : )  leyton even made a turtle craft!  

we left the museum around 4, i think, and headed to a new restaurant mom wanted to try, mylee's.  they had a piano leyton got to play & he made friends w/ the owner's son, who was 5.  heh.  i had a gyro omelet which wa pretty good.  liked the cucumber sauce a lot!  i'd like to go back & try their lunch/dinner items.  and write a menu post about them!  

after dinner, i headed to blackhawk park for sandra's birthday party.  i didn't have my phone, so i couldn't text her to make sure i had the right area of the park, but i didn't let the panic stop me from going up to what i thought was her party (i was right).  i stayed for 20 minutes or so & headed to WM.  mom kindly gave me $$ for my phone card & gas.  that was a nightmare - i went in to put money on the top up card & gas card.  i forgot to put new checks in my checkbook.  d'oh!  thankfully i HAD put them in my purse.  i held up the line while i ran out(thankfully there wasn't actually a line & the cashier just turned off her light)(and i had parked close).  the top up card was rejected.  :|  i held up the line while i went into the checkout areas to find a new card.  OYE.  now, by this time, the cashier was all kinds of confused as to what my change should be - even tho the screen said, "Total Due $7.52- (or something around that much)."  i was like, i think that's my change, because the one card was rejected & the other one put on, which evened it out.  actually, it saved me money because the top up cards are 10 cents less or something."  she stared at the screen for awhile, while the line got longer... finally, she realized i was right & gave me my change.  oye!  


when i got in the car, the first thing i did was put the money on my phone.  and of course got an error.  GRRRR!  BUT, because this had happened w/ mom a few months ago, i was able to explain mostly what was going on , to tech help.  they were very nice & helped me out by fixing the problem & such... then, i went over to get gas - w/ the $10 i just put on my card.  when i put the card in, it told me i had $38 instead of the $10, maybe $12 i thought i had on the card!!  Praise Jesus!  He is awesome!  : ) 


after all that, i got home a little after 7 & called mom back.  she needed me to come down & help w/ leyton for a bit.  i moseyed down there & gave leyton a bath.  he likes to play w/ those bath markers & paint.  and bath crayons, but they kept breaking.

and, tomorrow i get to spend some time w/ leyton & mom.  the museum has a turtle tracks exhibit that i've been excited about for months!  : )  also, my friend sandra is in town for her birthday & hopefully i'll be able to find the party.  it's at a local park, and i've been to this park before, but w/o my phone (unless i can put money on it tomorrow...) i'm a little panicky.  ah well, we'll see, we'll see!!

i have a curious case of ennui today.  i'm ENJOYING things, so it's not really depression.  (watching Revenge & Psych & idk what else tonight - Psych made me LAAAAUUUGGGHHH!)

so, yeah, lots going on!  PLUS, i really want to figure out how to:

(and those are the ones i think are do-able - i'm not so sure about hawaii, alaska, ireland, australia - i don't want to be in a plane that long, so i think the last two are out...)

anywhoo.  i'm just having a time.  i'm okay, really.  i just feel a bit like i'm stuck in jello?

survived!

i like hanging out w/ leyton & mom.  (uh, duh...LOL)  


soooo hard getting up when it's dark!  whine whine whine!  *laugh*  but i did, and was gonna let leyton sleep, but he said, "nah, i'll get up w/ you, aunt carrie."  awww!  but then he brought his blankets into the livingroom & snuggled on the couch watching thomas.  heh.  dude, i'd love getting up if that's what it meant!!  ; )  except replace center stage or the saint or stardust w/ thomas... 


anywhoo, phil came over, i got ready, we left, hugs hugs, kisses kisses, workkk.... 


which wasn't too bad today at all!  other than the being tired part.  heh.  but i had a one on one w/ the boss & that went well.  talked about some new stuff going on, which i think (hope!  pray!!) will be fun.  didn't drink too much coffee thru the day.  rah!  lunch was a really delish swedish meatball meal.  mmmm!  


i was supposed to have a networking lunch next week, but i have to take chloe to the car doc & that was the day we both had "open."  so hopefully i can make the next one!  and hopefully the car (exhaust isn't performing admirably) won't cost a lot to get into shape!!  eep!  


after work i just went straight to mom's.  read TV Guide & watched the news while waiting for leyton & mom to get home.  they brought subway.  mmm!  : )  


i gave leyton a bath so mom could do whatever it is she was doing (*laugh*  i think she was making up the beds) & we watched Wheel & Survivor.  aside from just enjoying hanging out, it was so nice to watch survivor!  i've missed the past few eps & really missed them!!  glad to see some of the ppl who are still around!  : ) 


came home & watched a really intense and What the WHAT?! episode of the lying game.  talked to erin for a bit.  was going to watch what i think is the season finale of switched at birth, but am too tired to concentrate on it, so i am just writing this & going to sleep!  (before midnight, yay!)


i hope your day was GRAND!  sorry, marianne & micaela - cards beat the rangers tonight.  (go cards!)  BUT this was just game one.  rangers have game 2 to get back the win!  : )  (as y'all know, i grew up going to cubs & cards games, so i am THRILLED that the cards made it to the world series!  however, M & M are real fans of the game, so i don't want to pretend to be really rooting for either team.  i'll be happy whomever wins - if it's the cards, i'll be happy for "my" team and for the city that i love, st louis.  but if the rangers win, i'll be happy for the fans, because they'll truly be ecstatic!)  : )

travel

i was so looking forward to traveling w/ mom this weekend.  she'd mentioned going to chicago, and i was really geared up for it.  for the past few years, the anniversary of daddy's passing, we've take a road trip of some sort. but this year, year FIVE (ohmyheckit'sbeenfiveyearsican'tevenbelieveit), it won't work out for her to be gone.  or, rather, she won't work it out.  it's not like she doesn't know, couldn't plan - she could have talked to her ppl about needing friday & monday off, she could have gotten someone to cover for her in nursery on sunday.  that's what you do when you have plans, you arrange your schedule for them to happen. anyway, i'm just disappointed.  and i don't know that i want to stay in town myself.  i might decide to just go for a theraputic drive   to some random place.  


or i'll stay home.  idk.  we'll see.


i have the travel bug, tho, hot & heavy for sure.  i sorta blame Pan Am, which i watched tonight.  and also it's just who i am.  i love to travel!  for a few months, i've been thinking of going somewhere over christmas break - maybe florida to visit kathy, maybe DC to visit april... today i'm leaning more toward DC, because i have been missing it soooo much!  how can i miss a town i've only been to twice so much??  it's a mystery, but there ya go.  


leyton's spending the night tomorrow, so that should be fun!  : )  


along w/ Pan Am, i had a Desperate Housewives marathon - caught up w/ the first 4 episodes of this season. Love it!!  


got to chat w/ april for a little bit, had a nice hello from marianne, a baked potato from arthur's for dinner, hot chocolate...

leyton won some sort of prize from modern woodmen - we put his name in at the balloon fest.
