How Glee Got Me Back

so, y'all know how i've been a little off glee lately, right?  the music was still making me happy, but the sue storylines among others were just making me throw up my hands & not even want to watch.  due to the way fox shows play on hulu (they go to the pay part of hulu right away, but the free part doesn't get them for 8 days after they air - i'm just grateful to get to watch TV for free, ya know?), i usually end up forgetting about the show for just long enough that there are 2 or 3 episodes built up for me to watch.  heh.

anyway, tonight i watched 2 episodes, and they pulled me back in.  what i liked about these episodes (aside from the music, which for me is a given) - the characters seemed much more themselves.  sue wasn't randomly attacking the glee club or will.  (she was being typical sue, but going after kurt's dad as part of her campaign, so w/ a REASON, and it didn't make my skin crawl like her going after the glee club does now.  because, her character should be over that by now.)  when sue's campaign tactics inadvertently hurt santana, she showed genuine remorse.  and oh my heck, when finn gets the glee club together to help santana... tears.  TEARS.  and then again when rachel stuffed the ballot box.  and when santana came out to her abuela... UGH.

i have such a heart for kids - for anyone, really, kids or adults - who come out to their families.  society pushes them so hard, telling them it's okay & everyone should be okay with it, when the fact of the matter is that it's just NOT okay to everyone.  now, without going round & round about my feelings on homosexuality i will just say this - i don't know with 100% surety what God feels about it, but i do know w/ 100% surety that He wants everyone to be treated w/ love and kindness.  and i do NOT understand how anyone can love someone one minute & completely shut them out the next just from learning one thing about them.

idk, anyway!

so after catching up w/ glee, i watched some GH & some OLTL - erin called this afternoon to make sure i would watch GH (i've been slacking a bit).  she filled me in on the robin storyline.  oh. my. heck. seriously, GH writers?  SERIOUSLY?  if they don't figure out a way out of this one, i might just jump ship.  i really don't want to, but if they really kill robin off... it might be unforgivable.  and speaking of unforgivable storylines - todd on OLTL?  was anyone else rooting for him to NOT be evil when he came back?  *sigh*  and i would really like rex & gigi to be together & HAPPY already!  maybe it's cuz i know they are together in real life, but i just want to see them happy on the show!!

what else?  today was pretty fun!  got to chat w/ my latest crush a bit, altho not enough.  i kinda wanted to just spend the day chatting rather than working, so i had to pull myself away.  so hard to do!  it's been awhile since i've had a GOOD crushing opportunity.  LOL  and yes, it really is just a fun little thing, and when he's gone i'll be sad but not devastated.  it'd be fun to keep in touch, tho... *grin*  *laugh*

tomorrow i have lots to do, so it'll be uber busy as usual.  *laugh*  then after work i need to get some christmas stuff picked up & THEN it'll be time to hang out w/ trish & watch the last survivor before the finale!  : )  woot!  thursday is leyton's program, friday i have two work christmas parties, saturday i'm hoping to finish up the christmas shopping, and sunday is brunch w/ trish, amy & marcie.

wow, the rest of the week is BUSY!  glad i had to night to relax.  *laugh*

hope your day has gone well & that you have a very blessed wednesday!  : )

this post will shock you

i am a private person.

i know, i know - you are saying, "but carrie, you tell us everything!  how can you say that?"

well, i know i share a lot - here & in person & in letters & ... i don't believe in holding back, but i do believe in decorum, modesty, and privacy.

i was very blessed, from a modesty pov among other reasons, to attend a christian private school, and my dorm at college had private showers.  i never had to go thru the "must shower after gym" thing, or "must change in front of ppl" thing.  even in elementary, when we would go swimming, in the locker room i would change in a bathroom stall.  i've never been brainwashed to think it's "normal" for groups of ppl to dress/undress together.

now, i'm not judging ppl who DO think it's normal.  if it never bothered you, changing in front of a group of ppl, then hooray for you!  if you went to a school where gym was mandatory & showering after gym was mandatory & it was a big group shower - and it never bothered you - then great for you!  but if it DID bother you, and you were bullied/forced/cajoled/convinced that this was just the way it was & you had to do it or not make waves, even tho you were uncomfortable, until one day it either didn't bother you or you didn't think about it anymore - that's what i'm calling brainwashing.

it's my opinion that our society doesn't take modesty seriously but then wonders why there are so many sexual predators or abusers or whatnot.  it's not that having to shower w/ your teammates makes you into a predator.  if that were the case, NO ONE would be safe!  it's that the idea of "you're all boys/girls and don't have anything new to each other" that strips away a child's privacy.  it's the idea of - well, if i can show off my body in the locker room, why can't i wear this revealing halloween costume, or outfit to school?  never mind that you're 12, you've been showering and changing in front of ppl your whole life.

this attitude can continue to spill over into other areas of ppl's lives...

anyway, wow that was a tangent of sorts!  lol  what started all of this thought process was my neighbors have the windows open & were watching a movie & i was thinking how i don't like to open my windows because i don't want to disturb ppl w/ whatever i'm watching/don't want ppl listening in on my phone calls/etc etc.   and then i thought of privacy, and that led to modesty, and that led to ... this post.

*laugh*

so.  how was YOUR day?  i'm so grateful that i'll have money tomorrow!  not only for my cravings and groceries - seriously need milk & bread & stuff! - but because i will finally, FINALLY, be able to get leyton a toy at the pavilion on saturday!  the past couple times we've gone, i haven't been able to get him a toy.  and it's not that i think he needs a toy every time he's w/ me or anything like that.  just the opposite - i don't want to encourage a relationship where he only wants to hang out w/ me because he gets a toy!  ya know?  i just want to be able to get him things when i want to get him things, and it's been awhile since that's happened.

so, praise the Lord, praise the Lord!

this morning leyton got up at 5:30 but didn't want to get up yet - which was good since i didn't have to be up for at least 40 minutes! - and so he snuggled w/ me for a bit.  snuggles are the best!  i just want to protect him from anything and everything that would ever hurt him, or make him sad, or make him doubt his love for the Lord.  his heart is so pure and his knowledge of God & what He's done is so true and sure.  i hate to think of someone taking that away from him.  i pray for him - and for you, dear readers - every night.

i should go to bed.  it's not even 11:30 yet, so my goal of in bed before midnight should be accomplished!  tonight i got to chat w/ april, talked to mom some - did not go over to watch survivor so i'll have to watch that later, watched a couple new shows - revenge & terra nova.  i like 'em!  here's hoping a lot of other ppl did, too, so they'll stick around!  i hate picking up a new show, really enjoying it, and then having it randomly disappear until i've forgotten about it & they've cancelled it & i never find out what happened (i'm looking at YOU, The Event!  *raspberry*)!!  oh, i also watched the premier of glee tonight.  the music selection was AWESOME!  but i'm getting really, insanely, sick of everyone still being down on the glee clubbers and sue being so awful.  ryan, come on!  can't you come up w/ dramatic ideas that don't fall back on those crutches?? seriously.

and i think that's all i've got for tonight.  do share your stories!  i miss comments.  not that comments have anything to do w/ my blogging, but i just miss hearing from my friends.  *laugh*  likely everyone has run away from my nonsensical posting on a daily basis & just comes by when there are cute pictures of leyton...

ah well, have a good night & ttfn!!  : )  i'll add my favorite picture of officer leyton from last weekend, just for kicks.  ; )

Man Candy Monday - Harry Shum, Jr.

okay, at "just" 29 years old, i know he is a bit young for my usual tastes, but after watching the LXD all day yesterday, there really was no other guy i could share.  (he even bumped mark valley from today's spot - don't worry, i'll work him in one of these weeks!)

from here

name: harry shum, jr.
born: puerto limon, costa rica
known for: Glee, LXD, You Got Served, Stomp The Yard

i love that he is multi-talented, and especially that he is an AMAZING choreographer and dancer.  his footwork is ... unbelievably sweet.  and that makes him some perfect man candy.  : )

http://www.alivenotdead.com/channelapa/Harry-Shum-Jr-talks-LXD-profile-1045208.html

i wish i could post a video, but they don't really work for me, so i am just going to give you a link to the site above.  there is a nice interview w/ him, along w/ clips from his premier episode (and a link to the whole thing) in the LXD...  check it out, and let me know what you think - agree or disagree, just let me know!  *laugh*

i didn't include any Glee pictures because - much as i love his fancy footwork on that show as well - it seemed a bit creepy to post pictures of his HS character.  oddly, i don't feel the same creepiness when lusting after milo ventimiglia or chad michael murray on gilmore girls, but hey... *wink*  (sidenote - when i was trying to think of HS boys i didn't feel creepy for liking on TV, i kept coming back to vampire hs boys, and i couldn't use them as an example because, well, they're vampires, so even tho they're in hs, they're like 500 years old!  just thought i'd share that vampires are always first on my mind when it comes to hotness.  LOL)

and hey, why not link up & share your own man candy?  : )

also, brooke from my small soldiers awarded me w/ a bloggy award, and i'll be doing that post later this week.  all sorts of goodness, yes??

gleek-ability

this post may contain spoilers from the glee project finale & tonight's LIVE episode of big brother.  so, if you're one of those ppl (like me) who watch things late & (unlike me) don't want to know what happened...don't read this!  LOL

today was an odd, but ultimately good day.  i woke up still not feeling well, but had things i needed to do at work, so i went in.  didn't make it very long, tho, and ended up leaving after 2 hours.  i was pretty miserable for a few hours.  :(  BUT i watched some dance movies to cheer me up - honey & fame!  : )  then i went for the cute boy & watched about a boy.  HUGH GRANT yumminess!  : )

i tried to watch last night's BB since i missed 1/2 of it, but my computer was anti-BB again, so ... alas!  mom called around 6 & asked if i was coming over to watch tonight's show, so i headed over there, after a stop at culver's for some RED MEAT which i was craving!  : )  they were having a classic car gathering in the parking lot.  i wonder if they do that regularly??  would have loved to get pictures!  there was even an appearance by the general lee!  woot!

BB was SO SAD for me tonight!  well, bittersweet.  dani got the boot, yay!  but then jordan lost the HOH by a wrong answer & it was bye bye to my favorite player, jeff!  poor jordan!  :(  i mean, i'm sad for jeff, of course.  i wanted him to win!  but alas again.  anyway, i feel bad for jordan since she's had her jeff in the game this whole time.  i also wonder, tho, if she'll step up her own game now.  : )

when i got home, i watched the finale of the glee project.  i rooted for damian.  i've been rooting for him since the beginning thanks to his adorableness and accent, of course!  ; )  but after the jeff thing, i was prepared to be disappointed again.

BUT I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED!  i didn't think i could love glee more, but i now will!  *laugh*  they whittled the final four down to 2.  damian was still in it, but from what the judges said i figured samuel would win.  and then he did, and poor damian's face broke my heart!  but then... then ryan said that damian had won, TOO, and his face lit up like the sun and ... oh, it was just so sweet!!!  : )  then he went even further and announced that linds & alex both get to do 2 episode guest shots!!!

amazing, really.  : )

so, there you go.  *laugh*  how was your day?

Born This Way

first of all, i think y'all know that i'm unclear on my personal feeling regarding whether or not ppl are truly "born" gay.  there seem to be valid Biblical arguments for both camps.  so, not planning to rehash any of that here!

yesterday i got the new Glee cd, The Warblers, at the target, and listened to it almost non-stop this afternoon during all my travels.  so, when i got home from taking The Tourist back to the video store (and stopping at taco john's for some dinner), i decided to try & watch last week's Glee.  thankfully, my  computer cooperated & i was able to watch what i feel is one of my top 10 episodes!

first of all, having kurt back in the glee club is fabulous, even tho i'm happy he joined the warblers for awhile to give us more great music!  : )  the storyline arc allowing him to return was brilliant.  the whole time the bully was apologizing to the glee club, i was tearing up.  even tho i know he was kinda blackmailed into it, i'm hopeful that being involved in the anti-bullying movement and the FLAG chapter will give his character a true change of heart.

then, kurt being sung out of the warblers - i'd already watched that scene on a preview, and it gave me a huge grin the second time seeing it as well, especially after watching the scenes before it!

the flash mob at the mall, orchestrated for rachel.  LOVED IT!  the hurt and honesty on her face when she & quinn were in the doctor's office was terrific.  heartbreaking.  having finn, puck, and kurt stand up for her, to show her how loved she is, as is, was amazing.  and of course, you know i love a good flash mob in general.  : )

the emma storyline.  i don't even know what to say about it, except i'm so happy that they're delving more into it, rather than keeping it as a "comedic extra" type of storyline.  i did feel that will was a bit of a bully about it, tho, so i'm not sure exactly that i agree w/ the approach there.

the t-shirts!!!!  i love that lauren's said "bad attitude" and that artie's said "four eyes."  these were things that were believable and yet not the first thing you would think of w/ them.  which to me was a brilliant move, showing that their characters are comfortable w/ the things about themselves others might not be.  i love that brittany made santana a t-shirt, and that she ended up wearing it, but not making it to be in the performance.  idk if we'll see what happened or not, but what i imagine is that she went to tell the bully dude (david?) that she was ready to embrace her "lebanese-ness" and she wouldn't out him.

their rendition of Born This Way was very well executed!  i go back & forth about this song, liking it then not.  i don't enjoy the first line, "it doesn't matter if you love him or capital H i m..."  because it DOES matter.  i mean, i understand what point the lyrics are trying to make & all, but ... again, i would just say that it DOES matter if you love Him.

so!  did you watch?  what did you think of this episode?

AND!!!

whaaaat do you think of the big news of the day?  osama is DEAD.

do you think it matters, as far as the "war on terror" is concerned?  i mean, it is a victory for our US military, for certain!  congratulations to the men & women involved in this mission are well-deserved! however... it's kind of like w/ sadam.  we spent how long, how many man hours, how many lives, hunting this piece of lunacy down?  for 10 years.  and so we capture, or we kill, and then... retaliation?  so are we safer, as a country, now that he's dead?  or have we just painted an even larger target on our country?

as i said, tho, either way our military deserves KUDOS!  : )

and that's my time for today!  tomorrow's a weird one - i get to sleep in, tho!

ttfn!!
