mr cowy

today was kinda intense!

i had a couple meetings - one with a lady who used to be my boss's boss's boss, and is now like about 5 more steps up in "bossdom."  heh.  i've worked w/ her on projects before, and she's a neat lady.  it was a good meeting!

another good meeting was our team meeting.  which i put together.  i LOVE being the cruise director (thanks, andrea)!  i was not feeling well today, but it was still lots of fun setting up the room & working w/ my boss on lunch choices & all.  i really wanted to get more accomplished today, but i had to leave at 5 for dinner w/ mom & leyton.  did NOT want to miss that!  : )  and so happy i went...

leyton loves the cow.  it's so cute, he calls him cowy, or mr cow.  heh.  and tonight he got to play catch w/ mr cow.

i got home around 7:30 & watched warehouse 13, melissa & joey, white collar (neal, yuuum!) & GH.  : )  warehouse 13 is one of those shows (like eureka) that i LOVE when i watch it but i don't catch it very often.  i'll have to see about adding it to my rotation (i say all the time & then don't, just catch random eps here & there).  heh.  melissa & joey HAS been added to the rotation, tho.  so cute!!  (cute is apparently the word of the day.  LOL

got to chat w/ aunt nancy & holly a bit.  excited for harry potter tomorrow!!!!  *beam*  i really hope that it's not ALL sold out for the time we want to go.  i'm only working a couple hours tomorrow & then will head off to the theatre to check it out.  then i have lunch w/ sherry, an oil change, and then holly should be here & it'll be time to meet everyone at the theatre!  woot!!

i'm having a little anxiety about holly coming.  not to do w/ HER - i'm happy she's coming & can't wait to see her!  but my house is just so cluttered.  and not as clean as i would like (i forgot to dust the TV & am too tired to get up & do it now!) but i did sweep & mop the floors tonight, so that's at least done!  but i am just not a good cleaner.  i'm clean just not a cleaner.  ya know?  like, my trash is taken out, i clean up after myself, i do my dishes... i forget to dust, hate to start vacuuming but love it once i get going, mopping the floors is usually not a priority... *sigh*  and stuff just deposits everywhere.  not like yucky stuff.  normal stuff stuff.  *laugh*

anyway, i guess this was a little bit of confession time!!  i'll leave it at that, because i had the goal of getting to bed at 11 & it's now 1 & i am TUCKERED OUT.

did you know?

that there's a whole group theorizing that the new madrid fault is set to rumble??  i was completely unaware of this theory until today.  and i can't decide - from everything i've been reading - if it's crazy conspiracy stuff or really something that's on the way...

either way, tho, it got me to thinking about getting the old Emergency Bag going again!  i think i need to do it on a much grander scale now, tho, because i would want to make sure i had enough for mom and leyton, phil & anthony & jen if necessary.  and angel, of course.  would have to make sure to add in water & food for her.  i didn't just start thinking about it because of that article, tho - the starting of the lists was put into my head when i read those disaster books a few months ago, remember?  food & water,  clothes, of course.  batteries & flash lights, blankets, umbrella... these spring to mind immediately for everyone, i think.  some things i might've forgotten about, or not thought of needing a few months' supply anyway - medicine, feminine products, TP, pens & paper... i'm pretty good about packing things, from all my travel.  but there are still things that when i see them on other ppl's lists, i'm all like "ohhhh!  right, that would be helpful!"  heh.

my problem w/ things that i use all the time (TP, FP, meds) is that it's hard to keep an "extra" supply, ya know?  and things like bottled water - i don't drink bottled water, and idk how long it lasts?  so how do i buy it for "emergencies" when it could expire?  and how does water expire?  it's water!

anywhoo!  something to work on, i guess.  along w/ getting my house organized and decorated.  so many things i want to do, so little energy to DO them!

i spend my energy on playing w/ leyton!  : )  and it's so worth it!  tonight i met him & mom at CFA for some nummy food & an easter egg hunt & of course the cow.  : )  leyton took a nap on the car ride over, and he wasn't really in the best mood when he got up, so i don't really have any pictures!  i know, is a shocker!  i did take some w/ my phone, but haven't sent them to myself yet.  LOL  we had fun anyway.

and tomorrow will be super fun!!  i hardboiled some eggs when i got home tonight, and other than the problem that is i want to eat them all, things turned out okay!  hopefully i will resist the urge to eat them all before we get a chance to decorate them.  heeeheee!  while at WM buying the eggs, i also picked up $20 worth of canned food, PB & ramen for a food drive we're having at work.  most of the time i don't have the money to donate or i forget about it.

this month, tho, is about sacrifice.  tomorrow is the day we remember Christ's sacrifice for us.  and sunday is the day we remember HE IS RISEN!  : )  i am so grateful to my Savior, Creator, Healer, Friend... and in honor of His sacrifice, i've chosen to step outside of my box a little bit & donate some goods!  i'm sure i could donate more...

for instance... had i not bought my Renegade dvd's and instead donated that money.  but, i did, so i'm going to enjoy reno raines!  and one of these days i'm going to find lorenzo's other series on dvd & have an Immortal marathon.  oh yes, i'd forgotten all about that show til just now!  i can't believe that one only lasted one season, tho - seems like i watched more episodes... lol  probably merged my memories of that show w/ Highlander... hmmm.

i'm a little all over the place tonight, right?  still haven't heard from bret.  :(  but i talked w/ misha & that was nice anyway!

what else?   i don't know!  i had many thoughts in my head, but as the night wears on, and i get distracted by shiny things... yeah.  *laugh*  well, disc 1 of renegade is over, it's 1 am, and i think that's my cue to go to bed!!  : )  thankfully, tomorrow is also about SLEEPING IN!  whenever i get up, i will get my Easter packages packed & watch more Renegade or Buck or Celeb Apprentice & Survivor if my computer cooperates...!  : )  then picking up leytonbug & RIO!

have a great friday, and remember - JESUS LOVES YOU!!!  : )

magic

that was today.  magic.  blessed!  even though there were icky parts, overall i am focusing on the BLESSINGS!

first of all, because i forgot to put my clothes in the dryer last night, i had to dry my shirt & socks this morning.  now, this put me into work at 8 instead of 7:30, but the extra time at home was nice.  leisurely waffle w/ honey oat cream cheese, played w/ angel... it was nice.

i had leftover pumpkin curry for lunch.  Y-U-M!!  my baker-friend, julie, delivered some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies & other treats to me this afternoon, which were also YUM!  she prefers her regular chocolate chip cookies, but there is just something about pumpkin that draws me in & makes me go YES!  : )

i watched magic johnson give an awesome speech to a local group this afternoon.  he is an AMAZING speaker, philanthropist, awesome businessman... oh my goodness!  and all of this AFTER making a name for himself in... what was it?  oh yes, basketball.  (LOL  i kid, i kid!)  the man has been living w/ HIV for 20+ years, giving ppl w/ that disease a wonderful role model!  and reason to hope!  i truly hope that i have the opportunity to see him speak again, as i highly enjoyed it!  it was too brief, tho - the lady who was introducing the guy who introduced him (really?  is that necessary?) had a lot to say before even getting to the introduction!!  (not in a bad way!  lol  she just had a lot of info to relay.)  i would have liked to have been there in person, but too much work to do.  very grateful that i had the option and opportunity to watch it streaming live from the convention center while i worked on memorials, tho!!  : )

(speaking of HIV made me think about robin on GH, and how that character has also been living (well) w/ HIV for over 10 years.  i applaud GH for that whole storyline, for staying true to it and to the character.  i applaud kimberly mccullough, the actress who plays robin, for her wonderful potrayal of this character.  she grew up on the show - she started playing robin when she was like, 5?  she was gone for awhile & then they brought her back & her storylines are almost always my favorites.  any time she is onscreen, she lights it up.  i really can't gush about kimberly m enough, ppl!  i've always wanted to be her friend.  *laugh*  i'm a dork.  i don't care!)

(oh my heck!  speaking of GH - did you hear?  did you see??  ABC has cancelled All My Children and One Life to Live!  *gasp*  *cry*  i'm so grateful that GH is safe (for now) but ... AMC & OLTL were part of my childhood, as well.  even though i stopped watching AMC many years ago (and honestly it was because they changed the way they shot it, so it just looked weird & i could never get used to it.), and just recently gave up on OLTL (for no reason other than lack of time), i am sad to see them go.  most especially because - other shows that get cancelled or end their run, you can buy DVD's later & watch them as much as you'd like.  but soaps - you have a limited time to catch up w/ them, and then they're gone.  with the exception of the occasional holiday, they don't do repeats.  some loyal fans have clips up on YouTube, but you have to really work at it if you want to watch a whole episode - or story arc! - that way!!

farewell, AMC & OLTL.  i will try to catch some of your last few months on Hulu, and i hope that you are allowed to wrap things up nicely.  feel free to use Guiding Light as an example of how things should be done.  we were sad to see that one go, as well.  *sigh*  i still think of it fondly, as well as ... Port Charles, Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, Another World... Passions can rot, as the only thing that one was good for was humor on Buffy!! (sorry, timmy...)  yes, i am a soap queen and i am not ashamed to admit it!!  i used to LOVE reading Soap Opera Weekly every week.  it would come in the mail & i would read it cover to cover - even nearly every story about the stories i didn't watch, just so i'd know what was going on.  i loved hearing about GL in jr. high from april's daily play by plays.)

(oh!!  speaking of shows on DVD - i bought the complete series of Renegade tonight from amazon!  it should arrive in about a week, and i will have so much fun watching that hunk, lorenzo lamas!!  i always want to spell lamas like llamas.  llama.  llama.  seriously, say it, it's fun!  (okay, i'm tired.  but it's still fun!)  also i had a jacket crush on bobby sixkiller or whatever his side kick's name is!  idk if he wore it in one episode or all of them, but i just remember this blue jacket... LOL  and i just had deja vu, so if i've talked about that before, sorry!!  also, it's a good thing i don't take hollywood types seriously.  please enjoy this quote about mr lamas's relationships... Lamas has been married four times and is the father of six children by three different women.  (Goodness!))

okay!  so, back to our regularly scheduled programming... which i've now completely forgotten ...

yeah, i'm just gonna skip to the - met mom & the boys at CFA for dinner, and it was yummy!  also, saw my friend stacey!  it's nice to actually get to HUG ppl that you *hug* all the time, ya know?  and, it seriously is funny because she recognized leyton before she realized i was there!  hahahaha! i loved when she said that - "i saw leyton & was like, 'where do i know that little boy from?' and then i realized it was leyton & then i saw you!"  heehee!  love it!!

yes, that is a bunny sticker on his forehead...

he's not hiding from the camera, this was his pose!

Anthony's zombie farm... he had a zombie named rob, who was sadly killed by farmer brown.
but seriously, we laughed so hard.  he had ...
Robb Zombie!

Leyton was being all snuggly, and so i said, "are you gonna perch on my shoulder like a parrot?"
so that's what he tried to do... LOL
as you can see, hilarity ensued.

*heart*

so much fun as always!  can't wait til saturday & his bday party!  should be a ball!  : )  anthony started off all attitudey, but by the end of the night he was being the kid i love to hang out w/ again, so... i know the teen years are hard, but i really hope that we're all able to get thru them w/o too much damage.  phil was never really an attitudey teen, so i know it's POSSIBLE for boys to be good!  lol  we just gotta keep working on him.  : )  (and prayer, lots of prayer!) (speaking of prayer, thank you for yours!  mom went to erika's funeral today, but i did not.  which turned out to be a good thing because mom said it was packed, and that it was a very nice service.  she said the pastor spoke a salvation message, too, which i hope touched ppl!  having the place packed out makes it even more sad - she had so mnay, SO MANY ppl who loved her... love.  they haven't stopped loving her.  ya know?)

whew!  goodness.

when i got home, i had a $50 gift code from my anniversary at work.  woot!  i used it to get some gift cards to hallmark, gordman's & bonefish grille.  there's one in schaumburg, so i figure now mom & i will have to go back!  ; )

i think that's all the fun to be had for today.  now i must sleeeeep!  hope your day went well & that we all have a fantastic friday!  : )

even more reasons to be thankful

oh how i love thursdays!  and thursdays when i have taken 4 hours of vacation (or, really, any amount) are just marvelous!  : )

today i slept until almost 9. oh, it was glorious.  wonderful.  marvelous!  but i said that already.  *laugh*   before i got dressed, or put my glasses on, i had to come in the livingroom for something.  i don't remember what... anyway, i noticed that angel had taken my bookmark out of Born of Fire, and so i picked it up & began the process of finding out where it belonged.  and then i was sucked in.  i found the spot where i'd stopped - i'd had no trouble stopping, it was right after a chapter break.  but then for some reason as i was looking, the words leapt off the page at me... i started reading standing up and w/o my glasses and only 1/2 way ready for work.  then i curled up on the couch for 20 minutes.  and thankfully it did NOT give me too bad of a headache!  i did have a slight one the rest of the morning, but it went away.  : )  i love when that happens (as long as i'm not late!! heh.), when the story is SO good that it draws you in & almost holds you hostage.  sherri's books ALWAYS do that!  : )

work went pretty well.  had a meeting at 10:30 & took a break at 11:30-ish because i was hungry.  it was a pretty quiet four hours - UNTIL 2:10, when everyone wanted something from me!  *laugh*  i was supposed to leave at 2:30 but was there about 10 minutes after, which really is okay, just funny.  i mean, from 1 to 1:30, when i was working on my visa spreadsheets, it was quite quiet!  that would have been a good time for all the email/IM questions.  *laugh*

i went to the post office to mail a package for someone.  hopefully it will get to them all in one piece!  it's in double bubble wrap...not, like, double bubble the gum.  LOL  in case you wondered.  probably that was just me.

anyway!  i was going to meet mom & leyton at the family museum, but when i texed she said they were coming out in a little bit & it wouldn't be worth it for me to pay admission!  so i sat in the car & read Pendragon til they came out.  the fire dept was having drills or water practice or something, and leyton was ALLLL excited!  it was pretty neat to watch, really.

we met up at chick fil a for dinner & so leyton could play in the play area.  there were twin babies sitting behind us w/ their mom & gramma, and when the mom went to the loo, the babies got all fussy.  so leyton asked if he could go over & keep them company til their mom got back.  (the gramma was there, they weren't abandoned or anything!)  it was SO CUTE!  he sat w/ them & distracted them by chatting & whatnot until she came back.  *grin*  then he went into the play area & had it to himself for awhile.  it must've been twin day for chick fil a, because later a family of 5 kids sat by us & it looked like they had 2 sets of twins!  oh my! busy family.  heh!  leyton played w/ them for awhile, and then it was time to go.

leyton is shocked, gramma.  Shocked!  lol

i stopped at home to change into comfier clothes (not that my work clothes aren't comfy.  they are very!  they're just not pre-jammy comfy!  : )  ).  i got the mail first, and yay postcards!!!  *beam*  and both ppl wrote that they'd looked for turtle cards, but didn't find them.  which is okay, it's so sweet that they looked!!  the cards are from canada & japan.  i love the otter & fish!!  so cute, so sweet!  : )

headed over to mom's & we just hung out.  mom found space invaders for the PS3, so we played that & watched wheel & Big Brother & played trains & trucks & cars & blew bubbles.  then we snuggled a bit & read & played w/ the DS (leyton wanted me to try & get the train after finishing a level.  finally, on the last training game, i got the train!!  he discovered if you tap it, the whistle blows.  so cool!) & then it was time to go home.

Wyler Italian Icee - YUMMY!

new truck from "the baby store" as leyton calls it.
i think the real name is Once Upon A Child?

gramma demonstrates the proper bubble technique.
leyton pays rapt attention, of course!  ; )

thank You, Lord, for blessing me w/ such a neat family.  i love them lots!!  i hope you got to spend some family time today, and that they made you smile at least once!  : )

sleep is calling my name loudly!  *laugh*  take care & TTFN!  love!
