getting warmer

yesterday i got to hang out w/ mom, aunt jan & grammy to play canasta.  we played partners & mom & i won!  : )  she very kindly brought us some ice cream, too.  tastee freez!  yummy!  : ) 

after cards, i finally got to go to the grocery store - and i forgot chili!!  *laugh*  hopefully i'll be able to get back there tomorrow, but if not i guess it's not the end of the world if i don't have chili.  i guess it is getting to be out of chili weather.  (hahaha, chilly/chili, hahaha!)  and i did get my tortillas for my latest food obsession, so it's all good!! 

last night when i got home, i watched lots of GH.  soooo good!  got to chat w/ joy finally for a bit, which was nice!  i even went to bed before midnight!  and i got up at 6:30! 

and then i said, "i have 1/2 an hour, i can just lay back down for a few minutes...."

i shouldn't say things like that, or do them! 

*sigh* 

so, i woke up again at 7:30, w/ marty honking.  whoops!!!  happily, we still made it to work on time, and i even remembered to grab my breakfast fruit & mt dew before zooming out of the house - fully clothed and wearing MATCHING socks!  i know, you are shocked.  LOL  but i sure was not fully awake til, like, lunch, dude.  duuuude!  i am liking that word lately.  : ) 

the day went pretty normally, other than the tireds!  got new work computer, and everything transferred over fine, except one of the computer systems.  we have version A & version B.  i normally work w/ version A, but when the new computer booted up i had version B.  and couldn't remember how to get back to version A.  i called the Help(less) Desk.  the gal there was trying, but she thought i meant that version A was a discontinued version that i needed to download, but i couldn't download it because it was discontinued.  that was NOT what i meant.  but that's okay, because after asking 4 ppl, all of whom TRIED to help, i found someone who showed me exactly what i needed.  and actually, person 3 led me to person 4 who led me to person 5, who is the person able to help, so that worked out nicely!  : )  (see what i did there?  clever, huh?  *laugh*)

so, that whole thing took an hour, and then i spend another 40 minutes trying to figure out why some of my other apps weren't sized correctly.  but i THINK i got it all figured out before we left.  LOL  i hope! 

tonight i watched celebrity apprentice & continued to be impressed w/ bret michaels.  i also watched a kick butt episode of army wives!  so glad it's back!  : )  now, the latest Amazing Race & then BED!  i must (must must must MUST) get up at 7 tomorrow!  i got to chat w/ april, which was nice.  her daughter is going to be THIRTEEN tomorrow.  april & became bff's when we were her age, and so it's just really neat that april now has a daughter that age.  i think all my friends are amazing parents, and i'm so blessed to know their kids!  i look forward to continuing to be surrounded by these awesome ppl as they continue to grow up!  : ) 

what else is there to say about today?  oh, i did my billage & am pretty sure that i won't be able to afford a rental car for wednesday, thursday & friday as i'd planned.  i didn't realize that i hadn't paid my G&E bill yet & didn't factor it in to my budget for this check!  whoops!  oh, wait... i should be getting a check back from enterprise & if i get it tomorrow then i can use it to rent again.  ooooh.  okay, so it'll be a timing thing!  *laugh*  we'll see!  God'll get me thru!

Thank You, Lord, for today:

Leyton's party went really well!  Got to see a couple of ppl I went to HS with, and meet their daughter.  She & Leyton hung out in the game area & on all the bouncey stuff for awhile.  : )  There were lots of fun things to be had aside from the bouncies - pizza, cake, presents, making a stuffed monkey & dressing it in a baseball uniform, and of course skeet ball - which had an interesting sign from management nixing the climbing on or dunking of the equipment.  *laugh* 

After the party, mom, Leyton & I went to mom's for some outdoor fun (and a nap for Aunt Carrie), then church, then IHOP for dinner.  all in all a very fun day!  : )

split

today was a very split kinda day.  i woke up before 6 & went back to sleep.  had a dream that incorporated a grocery store, joy (the person), a parking lot, star trek (the new cast and TNG cast) and harry potter.  woke up 5 minutes before marty was to be here.  panicked.  called marty & found out she was just turning on my street.  couldn't open my eyes all the way.  thankfully got completely dressed (in mismatched socks), angel fed, soda & yogurt grabbed & out the door in 10 minutes.  oye! 

and we still made it to work 10 minutes early!  : )  thank you, Lord, for green lights!

trish left at 11 to go on a mini-vacation, but lunch was still fun w/ her team.  and burger bar.  oh my heck, delicious burger bar!  so happy to have it back for the spring/summer!  : ) 

i had to walk over to walgreens for a couple things this afternoon.  it was beautiful out!!!  i likely could have asked marty to stop at hy vee on the way home, but wg worked out okay.  except that i wanted tortillas... might see if mom wants to go to hy vee tomorrow after leyton's party.  heh.  might forget to ask... LOL 

got to chat w/ april quite a bit today, which was nice!  also caught up w/ some of my shows - the good wife, survivor (goodness, do the villians have brains?  cuz so far it seems like they are all sheep lining up for the slaughter & giving one player waaaay too much power, AND voting off all my favorite players.  grrr), CSI:NY & now criminal minds before bed.  love it!  bosco and timmy (can't think of the actors' names right now, but they played bosco on third watch & tim on profiler) are on this episode & it's nice to see them again! 

isn't it funny how some characters just stick with you?  like, when i think of bruce boxleitner, i think "lee" from SMK.  he was also sheridan on Babylon 5, and has had many other roles, but lee is the one that stuck for me!  sandra bullock - i flash to all her movies, but don't think of her as a particular character first.  sarah michelle gellar = buffy.  allyson hanigan = willow.  david caruso = horatio.  chuck norris = walker.  (pause for my chuck norris fantasy whereupon i meet him and he gives me the entire series of walker on dvd.  ahhh, dreams!)  who are some of the actors/characters that stick with you?  or am i the only one who does this?  (it's possible.  i am a bit wacky!)

while talking to april this afternoon, i went thru several possible dinner options.  happy joe's was the one i thought i would go with, because i had a hankerin for pizza and a shake, and they would deliver both.  however, once i got home i decided to bake the rest of uncle jerry's fish, and then i saw my remaining chinese in the fridge & got the bright idea to mix them. 

it tasted very very good, but my tummy was not so much a fan of the mixture.  *sigh*  ah well! 

oh!  i was tooling around on FB, as i do, and discovered multiple cousins & an aunt on my dad's side!  woot!!  friend reqs all around!  : )  oh what a glorious tool fb can be! 

so, that about wraps it up for me.  i have a rant, but it will have to wait for another day.  i am plum tuckered out!  lol  gonna watch the rest of criminal minds & hit the comfy bed.  mom's picking me up at noon tomorrow for the party.  i hope everyone gets along & there's only fun, no drama llama!  : )

hafta sleep, really i do!

random thoughts keep swimming in my head, and apparently i can't sleep until i get them out!!  sorry bout it! 

- it's 37 degrees & i'm freezing & this week i've had the heat on, nothing on, the AC on, and now back to having the heat on.  oye!!  but it should be a nice break for my G&E bill next month.  : ) 

- i burned my tongue on mongolian grille wednesday, and now i have an inflamed taste bud on the side of my tongue & it hurts!  : ( 

- i didn't notice it so much today, but tomorrow night i'm not going to have a car & won't be able to just take off to sonic at 8 o'clock if i want to.  chloe, come home soon!!!! 

- marty will be here at 7:30 & it's now almost 12:30 & i'm sleeeeeepy, but for some reason just had to keep reading blogs!  everyone had an update!  loved reading The Laundry Queen & The Pleated Poppy & Just Lovely & Nat The Fat Rat tonight!  : )    and, there is always Ree.  she has my dream job in the blogging world.  just so's ya know.  ; )

hello blog buddies!  i had a little ... issue... and had to move my blog.  but it's all good now!  hopefully i will get the word out to everyone & y'all will join me over here!  cuz i do so look forward to your comments!!!  : ) 

i hope everyone had a lovely day, as i did!  i had leftover mongolian grille for lunch, cold, and some nachos.  they were delicious!  i wasn't going to have the nachos, but brenda pointed out there was cheese sauce, and who am i to resist cheese sauce?!?  so, there ya go.  heh. 

before work, i took colby back to enterprise.  everything went alright, and i never brought my cd's into the car, so i didn't leave any there this time!  (for those of you asking, a couple years ago i rented a car for a trip or when chloe was in the shop, not sure which, but i believe i left my HSM2 soundtrack in the car, and no one gave it back to me.  *pouty*)  marty picked me up & off to work we went! 

she dropped me home at 5 & mom & leyton picked me up at 5:30.  we headed to chick fil a for dinner & play time, and it was delicious and fun!!  : )  leyton had a BLAST in that little play area.  it was so cute, but i didn't take any pictures because there were a lot of kids there!  the sad thing was that some of those kids were CLEARLY too old to be in there, and their parents were CLEARLY not paying attention to what was going on.  the age limit in the CFA play area is 3 years old.  now, if it's not busy, and there are a couple kindergartners in there, i don't think the staff should roust them out.  but when there are 5 or 6 little kids, the appropriate age for the play area, in there, and then there are 3 or 4 "big kids"... i think management should step in & let the older kids know they need to leave the play area.  don'tchya think?  i mean, the equipment isn't sized for older kids, and if you think about how tall a 9 year old can be, and how small a 2 year old can be... well... plus, if you've ever been the this CFA play area, you know it's not all that big a space!! 

anyway, leyton was having a BLAST even w/ the older kids running around.  and at least when we were there, there weren't any "incidents" other than one of the older girls bringing a soda up into the bubble.  and the slide!!  she slid down the slide w/ a soda.  seriously.  can you not see the potential for disaster there??  she could have spilled, in the first place.  then the next kid(s) goes down the slide & now they're a mess, and so on til someone has to shut down the whole play area to clean up a sticky soda mess in the slide.  and how would they do that, anyway?  it's a curvy slide, and ... i guess they do have some small servers, but still.  LOL  then, of course, there are the less funny, more dangerous possibilities, including poking an eye/ear/nose w/ the straw.  eep!! 

the compressor was out in the CFA ice cream machine, so we headed across the street to DQ for dessert.  cones.  yummy, and soooo cute! 

and then leyton found my gloves in my coat pocket, and i got this gem...

love it!!

after DQ, mom wanted to check out the kids' consignment shop a few doors down from DQ.  however, she didn't want to get leyton in & out of the car again, so i said, "why don't we walk?" but she wanted to bring the car - so, leyton & i walked & she parked down by the shop.  : )  he was soooo excited to be taking a walk w/ aunt carrie, his "best friend."  i love how little kids have lots of best friends.  i am so grateful that i never grew out of that!  : ) 

and ... okay, i have no idea what i wrote here.  my computer froze and i had to reboot.  oh!  yes, yes, so we went into the shop & they had this awesome "playpen" area, and leyton found a cute play electric guitar to play with.  : )  there was also this other little boy, maybe 2 years old, who was playing w/ a string of duckies.  he was adorable!  no picture, tho, that would be wrong! 

(also wrong - blogger won't let me upload the cute picture of leyton w/ the guitar!  i'll try to add it later.)(yes!!!  success!!!) 

so, that was my night.  will have to watch survivor tomorrow night, as i didn't end up going back to mom's cuz it was late!  tomorrow is friday, thank God!  looking forward to the weekend - and leyton's 3rd bday party at bouncetown!  Lord willing, this visit will not include any broken bones!!!
